Returner

With America so liberally 'borrowing' from Asian cinema, it is strangely heartening to watch a Japanese film that knows no shame in thieving back from Hollywood. A gene-splice of Terminator, The Matrix, E.T., Stargate and more, Returner is like watching a chirpy tribute band.

Certainly more fun than it ought to be, due to some well-executed effects and an exuberant performance from Goro Kishitani as the Christopher Walken-haired baddie.

So much of this film is 'borrowed' it's like watching a chirpy tribute band. Good fun.
