This feels like the pilot for an ill-fated TV show: an attractive, self-absorbed young woman goes about her business, and nothing particularly funny or interesting happens to her. Presumably it’s a vehicle for US TV star Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls, The Sisterhood Of The Travelling Pants), who plays recent college graduate Ryden Malby. Ryden wants to work in publishing, has a lovestruck best friend (Zach Gilford), a handsome neighbour (Rodrigo Santoro) and parents (Michael Keaton and Jane Lynch) who switch into eccentric mode for occasional comic interludes.

Even Lynch can barely squeeze laughs out of the heavy-handed script, which flirts with dark comedy but settles for perplexingly humdrum drama.
