A glance at school holiday box office figures is enough to show that child-friendly fare is in much demand at certain times of the year. Parents desperate for anything to keep their little angels quiet are the reason this Disney film, originally destined to go straight to DVD, earned cinema status upon its release. As such, its pale-washed, 2-D animation betrays its heritage, but it still boasts impressive voice talent and original songs to liven proceedings.
"The Hundred Acre Wood crew" - as the hip Disney press notes very uncharacteristically describe A. A. Milne's characters - go in search of the mysterious Heffalump and learn some lessons about prejudice and friendship. It's a slight affair, but the cute Heffalump and some cartoon slapstick are endearing enough to its target audience.
