Pokemon 3 : The Movie

Pokemon fever may be on the wane, but the Nintendo machine keeps churning out the product, and it's a testament to its quality-control department that the Pokemon movie sequels stick to a tried and tested formula.

As before, the third instalment is two movies in one: 'Pikachu The Movie 3' and 'Pokemon 3: The Spell Of The Unknown', both equally mystifying to the untrained eye.

The shorter film sees Pikachu lost in a city filled with brand-new Pokemon, while the main feature sees Ash and his fellow Pokemon trainers visit a once-beautiful land which has been taken over by weird crystal formations, something to do with ancient proto-Pokemon known as, er, the unknown.

Although lighter than its predecessors, Pokemon 3 will undoubtedly thrill two - ten year-olds for whom the bubble has yet to burst.

Not as substantial as its predecessors, Pokemon 3 still has what it needs to thrill its two - ten year-old audience.
