Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka graduates to her first lead in this sort-of-thriller as Eva - the “one” of the title - raised with her brother (Timothée Chalamet) in a walled community in the American South, where only they and their parents (Grant Bowler and Elizabeth Reaser) still live. Alternately sheltered and threatened by their fanatical, God-fearing father for their unnatural ability to - wait for it - teleport, the siblings find themselves in crisis when their lives are disrupted and the world outside beckons. It looks beautiful and there is an interesting denouement, but it disappoints; the build-up just isn’t developed enough for it to matter.
