Original Title:

Love is a Many Splendored Thing

He is William Holden, in his leading man prime, as a married newsman. She is Jennifer Jones, wife and product of epic producer David O Selznick, as a widowed Eurasian doctor in Hong Kong.

One can guess the rest as they snatch a bit of happiness before he leaves her for the Korean War. Based on a true story, it's still trite, but, as these things go, wonderfully well done, with a faaabulous tearful ending.

Slushy but touching stuff and Jennifer Jones is full of charm.
