Destination: The Great Outdoors. Albert Brooks and Julie Hagerty decide to leave the real world behind them and trek across the USA in a mobile home in search of the so-called real America and hopefully enrich their own somewhat stale life together.
Unfortunately (but thankfully not for the plot development) a detour in Vegas, where Hagerty gambles away all their money, turns their holiday into an increasingly funny nightmare in this rib-nudging comedy. So what starts off as a pretty tame and predictable premise of the couple finding themselves on the road to nowhere turns into Viva Las Vegas!
Both leads are likeable and have the cutting neuroses that Brooks delivers so well. They cant really carry the film until the dramatic plot twist but from then on its all good fun.
