The Legend Of Bagger Vance Review
Savannah Golden boy, husband and pretty good golfer Rannulph Junuh heads off to World War I and comes back a man changed - for the worse. He leaves his girl, hits the bottle and loses his swing. An opportunity for redemption arrives in the form of an all-star golf tornament, and a spiritually-sussed caddie named Baggar.
Original Title:Legend Of Bagger Vance, The
Robert Redford's golfing parable was an attempt to drag some old-fashioned morality back into 21st century cinema.
Although beautifully shot, it's slow going, but if you can bear the pace and the wholesome performances of golfer Matt Damon and mystical caddy Will Smith, it does make rewarding viewing.
If you like 'em old-fashioned, well-acted, beautifully evocative and put together with the gentle but assured touch of a man who understands cinema, then yes. And it still works even if you hate golf.
