Made with the 'artistic collaboration' of director Erick Zonca, this intense adult drama belongs to the same school of psychological realism as his The Dream Life Of Angels.
But, ultimately, it ends up having more in common with Rien L'Faire (in which another seemingly contented woman embarks on an affair that shocks as much as it excites her).
Admittedly, encyclopedia rep Anne Coesens and her American lover Tony Todd barely pause to learn much about each other. But the film develops a strong emotional core thanks to Coesens' deteriorating relationship with Michel Bompoil, the unsuspecting husband.
