A Harvard student (Brendan Fraser) loses his treasured final-year thesis to an intellectual tramp (Joe Pesci, going heavy on the face fuzz), and is forced into adopting the homeless one in order to get it back, with the predictable bond-forming consequences. Despite being corny as hell, and let down by an ending which lacks any real impact, the relationship between the two leads, backed up by an excellent supporting cast, make this a surprisingly likeable little film.
