A documentary charting the tale of five ‘freestyling’ footie players (they do tricks and flicks) who busk their way from New York to Buenos Aires in a bid to meet their hero, Diego Maradona, this appealing flick plays well for the full 90 minutes.
In a film of two halves - one following the team’s adventures across the US and Mexico, the other watching the group’s fragmentation due to lack of funds and bustling egos - the directors exploit the twists and turns to great effect.
Apparently, to succeed at freestyle footballing, one needs flair, dedication and showmanship, and while some of the footballing group fail, the filmmakers themselves play a blinder.
