The excellent Elle Fanning plays Ginger, a spirited teen who gets caught up in the CND movement with her best friend Rosa, played by Jane Campion’s daughter Alice Englert. The girly bonding scenes ring true, a semi-incestuous melodrama doesn’t and the big show-down is nail-biting stuff. But this suffers from mannered dialogue exchanges, underwritten characters and a number of dubious accents.
