Lumbered with the misleading original title of Winged Creatures, this drama centres on the after-effects and fallouts of a diner shooting. But even with the DVD-release name change, the big cast, including Guy Pearce, Kate Beckinsale and Forest Whitaker, are so busy “acting” it loses momentum. Plenty of TV dramas play this kind of character-focused situation well, so a film like this has to raise its game and instead, it flounders.

Portentous acting and ponderous plotting in a strongly cast drama that plays like a TV feature.
