When a film that opens with a young man (Smith) entrusted with a classic car and paid to drive it from Los Angeles to Miami, you can be sure the road trip will be hell on the driver and wind up doing harm to the wheels.
Smith first faces trouble when he picks up a hitch-hiker (Fehr) who turns out to be on the trail of a gaggle of roadtrash vampires, led by Kit (Johnathon Schaech). Thanks to an encounter with a bitten girl (Miko) who is turning into a monster, Smith gets the vampire virus in his veins and needs to do that Lost Boys trick of killing the master.
A rare horror film in which the heroes are better drawn than the monsters, this trips up because Schaech doesn't cut it as a master fiend and the car chases distract from the dread.
