Morgan Freeman lends his gravelly wisdom to this emotional ensemble drama. He’s Harry, the friend of coffee shop-owner Bradley (Greg Kinnear). Bradley’s a cheerful sort - until his wife (Selma Blair) leaves him for a woman. Could sexy estate agent Diana (Radha Mitchell) be the answer? Meanwhile, his two young employees are getting it on, as Harry looks on sagely and relates it all to his wife.
Kinnear is as enjoyable as ever, helping to make this a fittingly amusing slice-of-life drama; but Freeman’s narration is cloying and the peripheral characters are paper-thin. Swinging from mildly irritating to rather enjoyable, the film eventually settles at merely watchable.
