To counter-programme or surf the hype? With most distributors plumping for the former, it’s down to Fast Girls and Chariots Of Fire to see just how jazzed everyone really is about London 2012. Unlike Chariots, this has shonky production values, half a plot — can four young girls overcome their differences and win the relay for Team GB? — and a love story more like grooming than romancing. Still, lead Lenora Crichlow (Being Human) is terrific and, well, it’s a lot of fun. If you’ve ever wondered what Rocky would be like re-tooled with girls in skimpy outfits (just us?), it’s your lucky day.

Despite the whiff of soap, this should get you in the mood for the Olympic summer.
