Artist D (Viv Albertine) and H (Liam Gillick) have lived for 18 years in a modernist London home but are moving on. Joanna Hogg (Archipelago, Unrelated) continues to dissect the minutiae of relationships, the focus here an ambiguously strong marriage. It’s hard to tell whether D is creating performance art or masturbating (she certainly does both), while H ranges from impassive to incensed in a manner which hints at a dark backstory. The interiors are comforting yet restrictive, while soundscape establishes a busy, threatening city outside. Hogg’s films are never conventional stories, but this is a rewarding and affecting watch.

A follow-up to the terrific, unconventional Archipelago that continues Hogg's ascent as one of Britain's more interesting independent filmmakers.
