Original Title:

Drowning by Numbers

Drowning By Numbers tracks the fortunes of granny Plowright, mother Stevenson and daughter Richardson as they each decide to bump off their husbands by holding their heads under water until they croak (hence the name).

Bernard Hill is the particularly manic compliant coroner who eats too much - like everyone else - and has a special penchant for organising games involving a bunch of sheep and tidal forecasts and one that necessitates throwing skittles around while a coffin is carried past in the background. Or something.

Nominated for the Golden palm 1988.

Well it's Peter Greenaway innit. Beautiful, but a little confusing.
