It’s three years since the government promised to tear down the wall separating District 13 from the rest of Paris. As they renege on their word, five warlords take control of five tower blocks (think Mad Max set in Slough) while corrupt cops plot to raze the area.
Their secret’s soon uncovered, allowing lawman Tomaso (Cyril Raffaelli) and spring-heeled Leïto (David Belle) to beat up the baddies with more invention than Thomas Edison displayed his entire life. Luc Besson’s script holds less water than a sock, but the action’s utterly enthralling. Sure, the dialogue makes you wonder if they’ve just learnt to speak, but you’ll believe a man can fly.
