Stephen Rea is the Russian pathologist assigned to track down a serial killer preying on vulnerable children in this true story set before the break-up of the Soviet Union. His progress is hampered by the refusal of the authorities to admit that such a western phenomenon could exist in the USSR. The slightly dated feel is helped by some worthy performances, especially Donald Sutherland as Reas boss, but proceedings drag by woefully slowly with much posturing and very little action.
