This classic Disney animated feature issue has lost a little of its lustre over the years, since both the oppressed drudge and her Prince Charming are really quite bland and colourless characters - particularly when compared to Beauty and her Beast.
The comic back-up supplied by the ample dotty Fairy Godmother, goofy mouse heroes Gus and Jaq, the tuneful score (Bibbidy Bobbidy Boo, A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes) and the scary, mouse-torturing proclivities of the screen's most odious puddy-tat in leering Lucifer do, however, provide enough charm, laughs and thrills to maintain the film's pleasing "ever popular" status.
