Artsy sex drama alert! This Brit affair is about the steamy relationship of amateur snapper Manchester (Liam Browne) and young taxidermist Noon (Nancy Trotter Landry). Living in a garage, all they need is love, drugs and a shoplifted bag of crisps… until Manchester does a deal with a sleazy rich guy who likes pictures of his unwitting girlfriend.
The following events fail to convince — the pair seem naive to the point of being backward, and there’s no back story to explain why they’re so dim. While it’s atmospheric, it’s remarkably drab for a film about visual art. Still, the performances are strong and the bedroom scenes trump real-sex dramas such as 9 Songs — they’re honest, frank, intimate and believable. Kinky, too: the easily shocked need not apply.
