Original Title:

In Bloom

Built around some arresting set-pieces, this rite of passage set in Georgia in 1992 is spiritedly played by teens Lika Babluani and Mariam Bokeria and incisively contrasts the expectations of a newly independent nation and its emboldened female population.

Bold and brassy, Georgia's Best Foreign Film entry may not be the cheeriest viewing but it's still a compelling coming-of-age drama.
