Banger Sisters, The

Ever wondered what Almost Famous "band-aids" end up like when they hit middle age? According to this comedy, '70s rock groupies are either like Suzette (Hawn), tending bar wearing skimpy tops and reminiscing about falling asleep under Jim Morrison, or Lavinia (Sarandon), erasing all memory of her past and settling into suburban domestic bliss, complete with carefully co-ordinated silk suits and neurotic children.

Of course, in the best comic tradition, Lavinia's life is destined never to be so prim again when her old pal turns up out of the blue. All the pairing-of-opposites clichés are explored, but in the deft comic hands of Hawn and Sarandon (who should be given more funny roles rather than the worthy ones she usually does), the film raises more than a few laughs. It goes to show, it's not just Mick Jagger who can still rock into his fifties.

Hawn and Sarandon are in perfect comic form and this film raises more than a few laughs.
