Adventures Of Elmo In Grouchland, The

Without the Muppet movies' production values, this big screen adventure for Sesame Street's finest is an enjoyable exercise in colourful simplicity. Take the plot: the eponymous fuzzy felt thing goes in search of his security blanket through the garbage dump of Grouchland: cue musical numbers, the usual muppet malarkey and some gentle moralising.

All the gang are present - best of all is the running commentary by Burt and Ernie and Oscar's sneezing- and the human presence comes from Mandy Patinkin as the OTT villain and a sexy Williams as the Queen Of Trash.

Never going to trouble Toy Story 2 in the sophistication stakes, but, in these days of pixel packin' powerhouse, there is something completely refreshing about a children's film dominated by socks with ping pong balls for eyes.

An enjoyable exercise in colourful simplicity.
