Straight after yesterday's news that she has signed on for a Beatrix Potter biopic, Renée Zellweger has today announced that she is starring in the Hollywood remake of The Eye. She'll play a girl who receives a ground-breaking eye transplant, only to find herself disturbed by strange and horrifying visions.

The film is a remake of the 2002 Hong Kong psychological horror by the Pang Brothers, Danny and Oxide. Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner's production company bought the remake rights on release, but the script has gone through numerous drafts since. Hideo "The Ring" Nakata has signed on to direct the remake, once again handling the Hollywood remake of an Asian horror movie, following on from The Ring 2.

The film is being made at Paramount, but there's no word as yet on a start date. We'll keep you up to date as we learn more.
