Plus, 300 to be re-released in 3D?

Zack Snyder Talks 300 Prequel

Zack Snyder's Guardians of Ga'Hoole (or whatever it's called this week) is on the way, and he's hard at work on Sucker Punch, his first project not adapted from something else. But Snyder is already looking ahead. Except, he's also looking back, to the oily pecs and rhinos and hermaphrodites of 300.

Talking to Coming Soon's Superhero Hype, he confirmed that Frank Miller's **Xerxes is almost certainly headed screenwards, as well as to the bookshops and comic emporiums. "I'm waiting on Frank to show me something in the next couple of months, and there's a really good chance that will be the next thing we do," says Snyder. "I'm not telling him what to write. I'll take it and I'll adapt it and make it into a movie and I'll write a screenplay, but I want him to do whatever he thinks."

It isn't an absolutely certain hundred percent done deal, but, says Snyder, "I'm pretty confident it's going to be awesome".

If you can't wait though, console yourself with the thought that 300 itself might be returning in 3D, as Warners clamour to 3Dify everything on their books (next up, Casablanca!*). It seems Snyder's recent decision to go 3D with Sucker Punch was prompted by Warners waving a ten minute showreel of 3D **300 **at him. Sold! And "we're talking about doing the whole movie."

Whether it materialises will presumably depend on big summer 3D releases like Clash of the Titans keeping up the box-office momentum of Avatar and Alice. Will the novelty wear off? And are there many films you'd turn out for again if they gained a dimension?

*Joke. We hope.
