He’s the man currently charged with bringing Superman back to our screens with Man Of Steel, and it appears director Zack Snyder is also helping to celebrate the character’s 75th birthday with a new short film. More on that in a moment: for now, enjoy Snyder and co disussing the genesis for Man Of Steel in a new featurette.

While you probably know a lot about how the film came to be (especially if you’ve read the comprehensive feature in the last issue of Empirestill available via the iPad version hint hint), it’s nice to see writer David Goyer and more explaining it over scenes of the filmmakers in action and a few snippets of fresh footage.

As for the short, it’s all part of what Warner Bros. and DC will be rolling out as part of the year-long Man Of Steel campaign featuring a new Superman logo (see below), the Infinite Crisis game, comics and TV material, all for a hero who currently doesn’t look a day over 30.

Snyder and co are playing the details of the short itself close to their chests, but the Hollywood Reporter has ferreted out that the director and collaborators including DC ‘toon veteran Bruce Timm and company hotshot Geoff Johns are planning a celebration of all the representations of the character through comics, TV and movies. Warners plans to show an animatic version of the two-minute piece at Comic-Con ahead of an autumn release.

**Man Of Steel **lands in cinemas on June 14 and you can see the 354th – sorry, ninth – TV spot below. You can also generate your own Kryptonian Glyph using the widget at the official site. We’ve discovered that we’re part of the House of Van, though we’re not sure if that’s Gogh, Morrison or Damme…
