Oh, Zack Snyder, you may be one of the prettiest directors around, but we're beginning to worry about your attention span. Sure, you brought us 300 and are working hard on Watchmen even as we speak, but what's all this committing to other projects like they're going out of style? First there was the rumoured Army of the Dead, then Sucker Punch - and now you've gone and attached yourself to The Illustrated Man, based on the Ray Bradbury book of short stories. We realise there's a strike coming, but do try to settle down.

Ahem. In any case, The Illustrated Man could be interesting. It's based on a 1951 collection of short stories by sci-fi supremo Ray Bradbury (well, mostly sci-fi), all narrated by the eponymous Illustrated Man, who has "living tattoos" that "predict the future" according to Variety (actually merely painted by a woman from the future in the books, but let's not quibble).

The short stories covering everything from virtual kids' entertainment to Venusian exploration, the plot of the film is anyone's guess - except that it is described as a "remake", and the 1969 film based on the book focused on the stories The Veldt, The Long Rain and The Last Night of the World, so they're most likely to be included.

It's worth noting that the Illustrated Man was later a scary bad guy (sort of) in Something Wicked This Way Comes, but it's not clear whether he will be here. Watchmen screenwriter Alex Tse is writing the script, and we'll keep you up to date as we learn more.
