People have been waiting years for an all-out, action-packed Zack Snyder movie, told the way he intended, about a world in absolute peril, and one team caught up in the middle of it all. But enough about Zack Snyder’s Justice League – the director also has another film fitting that description coming out this year, a massive Netflix zombie-action movie called Army Of The Dead. And after a smattering of images and the arrival of its first poster, there’s now a teaser trailer too – giving us a glimpse of what happens when you stick a stylish, slow-mo obsessed filmmaker into a zombified Las Vegas.
That’s just a little tease, but if we don’t see a huge amount of the story or the central characters, it does look like Snyder isn’t holding back on the scale here – there are absolute hordes of the undead all clamouring to enter Sin City, probably more in search of tasty brains than free cocktails and slot machine wins. There’s some entertainingly kitschy imagery here though – zombie Elvis impersonator! – that makes this look brighter, breezier, and bloodier than Snyder’s gritty DCEU fare.
As for the plot, the film is actually a heist movie – with Dave Bautista’s mercenary leading a skilled team into the Vegas wasteland to steal a massive stash of cash, if they can avoid getting bitten along the way. Think Dawn Of The Dead (of which Snyder directed the well-liked 2004 James Gunn-penned remake) meets Ocean’s Eleven, but with Drax the Destroyer in the mix too. Check out the poster here:
Army Of The Dead comes to Netflix on 21 May – just a couple of months after DC fans finally get to see what Snyder originally intended for his Justice League.
