Zack Snyder is certainly committed to world — or in this case, universe building for his latest Netflix film Rebel Moon. With two movies headed our way in December and April, and a video game on the fast track, he and Titan Comics have also announced another big tie-in: a prequel comics series called Rebel Moon: House Of The Bloodaxe.
While the first Rebel Moon film, A Child Of Fire, arrives on 22 December and the second, The Scargiver is due on 19 April next year, the comic will fill in the origins of Cleopatra Coleman and Ray Fisher's characters, Devra and Darrian Bloodaxe, and takes place five years before the events of the first film. It'll be out via Titan on 10 January.
Rebel Moon's story focuses on the outcast Kora (Sofia Boutella) who lives on a distant colony in a galaxy dominated by a tyrannical empire. Its inhabitants, tired of the mistreatment, send her to look for allies to form their own army and confront the current regime.
Kora is a former member of the empire, who walks away from that life and from everyone, but will have to put her skills to the test when she is sent to find allies around the galaxy to fight off the group to which she once belonged.
The cast for the film also includes Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Ed Skrein, Anthony Hopkins (who voices a robot) and Jena Malone.
