In April, we got the encouraging news that the TV series based on Joe Hill's creepy tome NOS4A2 had been handed an official order. Show-runner Jami O'Brien is gearing up the show and Zachary Quinto and Ashleigh Cummings are on to star.

The cameras have started cranking in Rhode Island, under the direction of The Handmaid's Tale's Kari Skogland, crafting the first two of 10 episodes in the initial season.

NOS4A2 follows Charlie Manx (Quinto), a seductive immortal who feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – an icy, twisted Christmas village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Manx finds his whole world threatened when a young woman in New England called Vic McQueen discovers she has a dangerous gift.

Cummings will play McQueen, a young, working-class artist whose creativity awakens a supernatural ability to track Manx. What Vic lacks in social confidence, she makes up for in courage, humour, and tough-as-nails grit. She strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

NOS4A2 should be on screens next year via US network AMC (there have been no announcements about a UK channel). Quinto will next be seen in Steven Soderbergh's High Flying Bird, recently nabbed by Netflix. Cummings will appear in The Goldfinch, due out on 11 October next year.
