Total disclosure time: We don’t like American comedian, Zach Galifianakis. Oh, it’s got nothing to do with his talent – he’s a fine comic. But it’s that bloody name of his – not only is it hard to spell, but it’s so long and complicated to type that it’s giving us RSI. And right now, it looks like our fingers are going be seizing up a hell of a lot in the future, for he’s carving out quite the movie career.
Recently, the bear-like 38 year-old could be seen in What Happens In Vegas as one of Ashton Kutcher’s best friends. He’ll soon be seen in Jerry Bruckheimer’s bonkers live-action/animation hybrid, G-Force, about talking guinea pig commandos. But, clearly fed up of all that ensemble/supporting player crap, he’s taken a lead role in Todd Phillips’ latest comedy, The Hangover.
Galifia – aw, screw it… Zachy Boy will star alongside the previously cast Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms in the debauched tale of three best friends who take their mate to Vegas for his stag weekend… then promptly lose him, just hours before he’s due to get hitched. Egads! Gadzooks! Have you checked down the back of the sofa? Etc. etc. and so on.
It sounds a bit like a companion piece to What Happens In Vegas, but with Phillips on board, there’s a good chance that this movie will be funny. What’s more, we like the cast – Helms is comedy gold, Cooper has untapped potential and Zachy Boy is way more than a guy with a great big bushy beard.
Shooting starts this weekend on the Legendary Pictures/Warner Bros. co-production.
