"Live fast! Die in a crash!" yelled Ministry, and Zac Efron looks set to almost take that advice when he turns up on set for **Die in a Gunfight, on its way from MRC.
Efron has been attached to the film since December, but it's just landed a director in the form of music video and commercials helmer Anthony Mandler (who's also attached to the Dracula's-early-years pic Vlad). The script, by the just-out-of-college Gabriel Ferrari and Andrew Barrer, made the 2010 blacklist, and will see Efron play "a fight-prone and death-obsessed young society man who pursues a romance with the daughter of his father's enemy."
It sounds sort of like Romeo and Juliet via Brett Easton Ellis, so while the romance is still there, maybe this is just the edgy project Efron needs to break him out of his High School Musical / Charlie St Cloud typecasting. If what he really wants to do is bust some heads, we salute him.
