It turns out that pretty boy Zac Efron is not just a pretty boy. He's signed up to produce as well as star in a new untitled workplace comedy from the writer of his former starring vehicle 17 Again.
The script's by Jason Filardi but, er, that's about all that we know so far. With Efron having gone from near-ubiquity to a few months of radio silence, it looks like he's lined up lots of potential work. After the upcoming literary adaptation Charlie St. Cloud he'll have this comedy and any one of a number of other films his production company (called Ninjas Running Wild) is working on.
Those include Art of the Steal, based on a Wired magazine article about a master thief; Einstein Theory, a time-travel story; Fire, based on the Brian Michael Bendis graphic novel about a college student recruited by the CIA** **and Snabba Cash, a remake of the Swedish thriller about a young man who becomes a runner for a coke dealer.
So what do we think? Can Efron do a Leonardo and transition from flavour of the month to star with staying power? And what do you reckon that workplace comedy will be about?
