US plans for footie film

After the blinding success of Soccer Dog -The Movie, a team of Americans have decided to make another film about football, or 'soccer' as they affectionately term it. Screenwriter Angelo Prizzo scoured the archives to discover that the USA, whose love affair with football equals their regard for our warm beer, actually beat England way back in the 1950 World Cup. Back then, no one in the US payed any attention to the 'beautiful game', instead preferring to watch a bunch of men in pads and helmets hug each other and grunt loudly. So no change there then. All this lukewarm enthusiam makes it all the more incredible that David Anspaugh, the US director behind such sport based 'hits' as Hoosiers and Rudy, got the go-ahead to make The Game Of Their Lives about the match that knocked England out of their first World Cup with a shock 1-0 defeat. Bah, humbug - we say.
