With The Conjuring last year and its recent prequel Annabelle both bona fide successes at the box office, producer Peter Safran is sticking with the horror genre for another project, reuniting with Conjuring writers Chad and Carey Hayes and recruiting Xavier Gens to direct **Crucifixion{
Like** The Conjuring**, the new film is again based on a real-life case, this time a little more loosely. The Hayes brothers are writing a script about an investigative journalist trying to discover if a priest murdered a mentally ill nun during an exorcism ritual or whether she was truly possessed by a demon.
Intriguingly, Gens – who directed Frontier(s)** and a segment of The ABCs Of Death – was actually in line to work with Conjuring director James Wan on found footage scare pic **House Of Horror a couple of years ago, but that never materialised. It would seem the Conjuring team still wants to be in business with him. This would be his first full feature since the little seen The Divide in 2011, and he'll be hoping that it forever wipes 2007's Hitman from our collective memory.
