X-Men: Apocalypse

With a name like “Apocalypse”, it’s fair to say that Oscar Isaac’s villain in the new X-Men film isn’t bringing the world puppies and rainbows. Indeed, he’s mostly about chaos and power. See how our mutant heroes react in the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse.

An incredibly powerful and ancient mutant (his birthday cake candles could probably set a small city on fire), Apocalypse is the source of several myths and practically a living god. So it’s somewhat obvious that he’ll cause trouble for James McAvoy’s Professor X, Michael Fassbender’s Magneto and the rest.

The film’s story finds our heroes split across the globe: The Prof is still trying to help mutants blend in with the world, while Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is on her own crusade to settle matters between humans and mutants in a more violent fashion. Magneto, meanwhile, is opting for a quieter life of love in Poland. At least, that is, until Apocalypse comes a-calling and recruits him…

And the endlessly dangerous being is also taking on what has always been known in the comics as his “horsemen”, which in this case includes the young Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Angel (Ben Hardy), who are all in bad circumstances of their own. Apocalypse, who has been in slumber for centuries, decides that the 1980s world is ripe for a reboot.
