Though he’s become better known for his hockey career, Wyatt Russell – son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn – has begun to embrace that old chestnut about the apple not falling far from the tree. With a few acting jobs now under his belt, he’s just landed his biggest role yet, in **22 Jump Street{ =nofollow}.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, currently also overseeing The Lego Movie, are set to direct the sequel to the hit Jonah Hill/Channing Tatum buddy-cop comedy about undercover officers who take an assignment at a high school to hilarious results.

With Michael Bacall and Oren Uziel (and the directors) on script duty this time, the action will switch to college with Jenko and Schmidt dealing with the next stage in both their mission and their friendship. Russell will play a frat brother who befriends Tatum and comes under suspicion of criminal acts. With Ice Cube’s Captain Dickson set to return as well, 22 Jump Street has set up shot to film in New Orleans starting next month, for release on June 6, 2014.

Russell was most recently seen in** Love And Honour**, though he’s also had roles in Cowboys & Aliens and** This Is 40**. He’s currently at work on** Cold In July** with Dexter’s Michael C. Hall.
