The UK is clearly the new hot place to shoot for writer/directors with a singular vision.
Following in the footsteps of Woody Allen, Paul Schrader is now planning to film The Walker in England. A cast that includes Woody Harrelson, Kristen Scott Thomas, Lauren Bacall, Willem Dafoe and Lily Tomlin will bring to life a story about an escort (Harrelson) who attends to rich society ladies.
Schrader, whose last directorial effort was Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist, told Variety that his idea was sparked by the vision of Richard Gere’s American Gigolo getting on a bit. “"His gifts are now more social than sexual. He's this society walker who has his lady friends, and a boyfriend on the side," Schrader said.
Given his last experience with filmmaking, expect Schrader's movie to be shelved and replaced with a version in which Harrelson is played by a CGI demon.
