If there’s a crowning jewel in the DCEU’s current output it’s Wonder Woman, with Patty Jenkins’ take on Diana Prince proving a thrilling and emotional superhero story. The director and star Gal Gadot are now well underway on a sequel, and they've just revealed some intriguing first look images. Jenkins took to Twitter to post a picture of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor — and he’s somehow in a 1980s mall wearing a rather fetching tracksuit, looking as youthful as in the first film. Time travel? Frozen for several decades in an iceberg? A good skincare regime? However he’s managed it, it looks like Trevor will be the fish out of water this time around.

Next up Gadot shared a look at Wonder Woman herself, staring at a bunch of screens blasting acid-coloured 1980s imagery.

Most intriguingly of all, it seems like Jenkins could have teased the film’s current title — both posts include the phrase ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, with the hashtag #WW84. Could they be going down the Blade Runner 2049 route in naming the sequel?

Whatever the official title ends up being, Wonder Woman 2 is due for a November 2019 release. Jenkins has co-written the screenplay as well as directing, while Kristen Wiig has joined the cast at the villainous Cheetah. The film is shooting now — so keep eyes peeled on Jenkins’ social media for possible future updates.
