The cast for true-crime contract killer drama The Iceman has just seen a change, as Winona Ryder has signed on, replacing Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Ryder will play Deborah Kuklinski, a woman who had no idea that her husband Robert (Michael Shannon) who appears to be a regular businessman, was in fact a hired killer for the mob.
It’s not the first shift for the movie, which was announced in January this year with Shannon, Gyllenhaal and James Franco as Robert Pronge, who teaches Kuklinski the ways of the assassin.
Now, Chris Evans is playing Pronge, with Ray Liotta as mob boss Roy Demeo and David Schwimmer circling the role of a fellow assassin.
Ariel Vromen is behind the camera for this one, using the script he co-wrote with Morgan Land based on Anthony Bruno’s book The Iceman: The True Story Of A Cold-Blooded Killer.
Ryder, who was last seen in Black Swan and The Dilemma, has just shot indie pic **The Stare **and will next be heard rather than seen in Tim Burton’s stop-motion ‘toon Frankenweenie.
