It was just a couple of days ago that we reported on Henry Cavill snagging the lead in kidnap thriller The Cold Light of Day, and now he’s going to be joined on screen by two cinematic icons: Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver.
According to Variety, Willis is definitely on for a role, and Weaver is in talks to join the film, which finds a young American man (Cavill) on holiday with his family in Spain. The wealthy trader type is trying to take it easy, but then his wife and kids are snatched, and he’s left with mere hours to locate them and discover the connection between his father’s shady past and a huge government conspiracy.
There's no word on what roles either of the elder actors are up to play, though we'd be on for seeing Willis subvert his usual heroism to go to the dark side.
Mabrouk El Mechri, who last wrangled Jean-Claude Van Damme on screen in JCVD, is behind the camera, with Richard Price writing the latest draft of the script.
Cavill, Willis and, if she signs, Weaver, will all be off to Spain to shoot next month. Let’s hope they find time to make a movie in between making sandcastles on the beach.
