Robert Eggers is clearly in the Willem Dafoe fan club, having worked with him twice now on The Lighthouse and The Northman. He's set to do it a third time, with Dafoe joining the cast of Eggers' new take on Nosferatu.
Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp and more recent addition Nicholas Hoult are already aboard to star in the film, which has the backing of Focus Features.
In the new reimagining, Nosferatu is a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman (Depp) in 19th century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing untold horror with him.
Neither Hoult nor Dafoe's roles have been revealed yet, but we could see Hoult as Depp's husband.
And this marks the second Nosferatu-associated project, as he scored an Oscar nomination for 2000's Shadow Of The Vampire playing actor Max Schreck, who director FW Murnau (John Malkovich) worries is getting into the role of the vampire a little more than is necessary… or possible. So this would be Nosferat2?
