While we're more used to stars making extravagant demands, it's always nice to hear a story that proves that some actors do have an altruistic side to their nature. That's why we were particularly gratified to learn that the stars of upcoming historical drama Cromwell and Fairfax were the first to step in and help when their film was threatened with closure. The four main stars of the film, Dougray Scott, Rupert Everett, Tim Roth and Olivia Williams all agreed to defer their salaries to keep the production going when Spanish funding failed to materialise. The most generous gesture came from Dougray Scott who put in almost $100,000 of his own money to ensure that filming went ahead. 'There are some things in life you just cannot walk away from,' Scott told ScreenDaily.Com. 'This is one of them. It feels special.'
