Will Smith is about to hit our screens playing a con man in Focus. And he has more of a villainous/antihero role lined up for the future. But he’s also still interested in conflicted heroes, and is now attached to a spec script called **Bounty{ =nofollow}.

Sascha Penn wrote the action thriller, which finds a Boston man (Smith, assuming he ends up in the role) wrongly convicted of murdering another man. So far, so very similar to stories such as The Fugitive. But then he has to escape from prison and find a way to prove his innocence, a task made no easier by the fact that the victim’s widow has put out a $10 million bounty for his capture... Dead or alive. You half expect Jon Bon Jovi to show up and starting warbling at this point.

Paramount won a bidding war for the script, which carries Smith’s involvement as potential leading man and producer via his Overbrook Entertainment company.

As mentioned, Smith will be back on our screens in Focus, which is out here next week. He’s also gearing up to work on the Warners/DC comic book pic Suicide Squad and has NFL sports injury drama Concussion due out in the US on Christmas Day before it jets over here for January 22.
