In keeping with the recent trend of early movie marketing being mostly left up to its stars' huge social media following (case in point: Dwayne Johnson and anything he's working on), most of what we know about Bad Boys For Life – yes, really what they're planning to call the new film – comes via Will Smith's Instagram feed. The first look at Smith and co-star Martin Lawrence in character and on set has arrived, and you can find the post right here.

While little has officially been revealed about the story for this one, it'll reportedly see a new, young, highly specialised police unit played by Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens and Charles Melton clashing with the more old-school (read: chaotic) antics of Mike Lowery (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence). From the looks of the ruined room behind them, the pair is causing the usual amount of property damage, and will no doubt be making Captain Howard (Joe Pantoliano)'s life more difficult.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing, and the film should be out in US cinemas on 17 January next year, followed by a 24 January release here. That's assuming it isn't just released in little chunks online by Smith each week before that.
