As Talladega Nights and Step Brothers proved, when Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly share the screen comedy magic can happen. So we’re happy to see that they’ve found a new project to reunite on, setting up Devil’s Night for Sony.
Writers Andrew Mogel and Jarrad Paul have come up with the idea, which draws from the night of chaos, arson and madness film fans might remember from The Crow.
Set on October 30, the night before Halloween when the destruction tends to go down, the unofficial holiday in the new script brings Leonard and Gabe together as friends when they were kids, but also ends up tearing them apart. 15 years later, with Devil’s Night growing out of control, they must put their differences aside and reunite to save their neighborhood from utter destruction.
It sounds like it’ll be even crazier than either of their first two collaborations, but it’s still early days on the project. Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez company will produce for the studio and the duo are looking for a director. We're hoping McKay might consider it to make the reunion complete.
Reilly has just finished shooting Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy in London, while Ferrell will next be on our screens for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Reilly has a cameo in the new Ron Burgundy outing and that he managed to survive to the final cut. The sequel is out on December 20.
