Given how well they worked together as a comedy team on The Other Guys, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to reunite Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Surprisingly, however, it’s not Guys studio Sony making the deal this time, but Warner Bros., which is putting together Turkey Bowl for the pair.

Snatched as a pitch from Owen Burke of Ferrell and Adam McKay’s Gary Sanchez Productions, and handed to 30 Rock executive producer Robert Carlock and Friends veteran Scott Silveri to write, Bowl follows two rival men from American football-obsessed towns who clash over an annual Thanksgiving tackle game. Think **Friday Night Lights **meets Anchorman.

And speaking of the legendary Ferrell comedy, the plan, according to Deadline, is to pack the cast with cameos for the games, much as the reporter rumble saw Ron Burgundy and the Channel 4 news team duking it out with competing station crews.

While Alec Baldwin is attached to play Wahlberg’s dad, there’s no word on a director yet – though there’s always a chance McKay could step up to the job. Given that the script isn’t finished and how busy both of the leads are right now, we may have to wait a while for this one.
