The organisers of the alternative film festival to Sundance - called Slamdance - have announced that this year at Cannes they'll be running an alternative there, too. Called "Cannes You Dig It," it so far has a lineup of just four films: Cannibal... The Musical, by South Park co-creator Trey Parker (which went down very well at this year's Slamdance); Glasgow Phillips' "phallic-ninja" (whatever that means) comedy, The Sound of One Hand Clapping; Todd Downing's Dirty Baby Does Fire Island; and James Boyd's The New Gods. Troma Entertainment, which owns the rights to Cannibal... the Musical, is providing screening space, promotional booths and marketing supplies for the event. So now you can go to a film festival in the South of France without having to wear a white linen suit and Tods.
